vs. Grace Morningwood

John Lydon once said, “It's no good being nice and young and naive. There's no good in that at all. You've got to do it all yourself, and you've gotta learn quick. And you can't look for sympathy either.”

Amen, John!  Amen!

I was once like you, Gracie.  I was a nice, young, naïve little girl in this industry, a girl who saw the good in everyone and everything.  I thought I could make a difference in society through my actions, through my words.

But I learned the hard way that this business is cutthroat, mean, and nasty. I learned the hard way that heroes do not succeed in real life.  Only in fantasy, only in the realm of the comic book, television, or movies does the hero always win, giving the audience a feel good story to go home with.

That’s just not how it works in reality.

In reality the villains usually win, Gracie.  Why?  Because the villains are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish their goal.  Even the supposed “heroes” of the world are tainted.  Donovan Kayl, Shaun Cruze, and others recently jumped William Mason from behind on a Supreme Championship Wrestling show.  Granted, William may not have been a good guy; you could even classify him as a villain if you wanted, but do the good guys engage in gang assaults?

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not necessarily taking Mason’s side, neither am I condemning the gang assault.  I’m just saying that sometimes you have to do whatever you have to do to get ahead.  I’m saying that you have to see the world for what it really is.  You have to open your eyes and realize that everyone is tainted.

You may win friends acting the way you do, Gracie, but those friends will walk all over you all day long.  Those friends, unbeknownst to you, will use you.  Just as my friends, my own family even, used me and then, when I needed them the most, ignored me.

No one will walk over me or use me any longer.

Gracie, you have already had a preview of what the new Melanie McBride is capable of, the Melanie McBride that evolved from the sweet, kind, and very naïve child into the dangerous woman you see before you now.  Evolution is a powerful force that not only rescued my wrestling career from obscurity, but has saved my life as well.

Evolution is preparing to pass you by, Melanie.  You will either evolve or natural selection will choose to eliminate you as the weakling that you truly are.
