To evolve is
to change. Scientists say that if a
species cannot change, if it cannot adapt, then it will inevitably die out and
go extinct. To say that Melanie McBride
has changed during her lifetime would be a massive understatement.
Young
Melanie McBride used to be a happy, bubbly young woman full of life and full of
optimism. Ever since meeting with her
new boyfriend (or master, depending on the mood she’s in when you ask her)
Pierce Manning, her attitude took a massive and very sudden change. No longer was she an optimistic
individual. She was cynical and
pessimistic regarding life.
The single
biggest symbol of the change that had undergone in Melanie McBride’s life was
the destruction of the relationship between her and her sister Karen McBride.
Now Karen
and Melanie are not biological sisters.
Karen was adopted by Melanie’s family.
Karen’s father had run off years earlier and no one knew where he was,
her mother was gunned down by a drive by shooting. Karen was homeless until she was adopted by
the McBride family.
Melanie was
the most thrilled to have Karen brought into the family. Karen and Melanie grew to be very close, very
friendly. Melanie had never had a true
friend in the family, not ever her own siblings, Stan Lee Jr. and Blair
McBride, liked her. Karen, though,
became a close friend. They were
inseparable.
So to have
Melanie reject Karen’s friendship and sisterhood was shocking to say the least.
No one quite
knows what happened to Melanie but it did send Karen into exile for a brief
period until she could collect her thoughts.
But now Karen is back and she wants answers from her sister. She wants answers from Melanie.
“Time for some answers…Mel…”
It’s the
voice of Karen McBride. She stares daggers
right through her younger sister Melanie, whom she has backed up against the
cast iron fence that surrounds the massive McBride Estate in New York
City. Melanie stoically refuses to back
down.
“What are you doing here, Karen Leonard?”
“McBride.”
Karen
retorts, the usage of Karen’s original last name doesn’t phase her in the
least. For Melanie, though, it is a
question of philosophy. Karen was
adopted, thus is not a true McBride. She
is still a Leonard. Melanie chuckles.
“You were not born a McBride.” She
answers back. “You do not have McBride
blood running through your veins.”
“That’s where this whole evolution garbage
has you dumbed down.” Karen says, gently but sternly tapping her upside the
head. “Blood alone doesn’t make you a
sister. A relationship makes you a
sister. And you and I, we had a
relationship, an unbreakable bond. We
defended each other from Blair and Stan.
And damn it, Mel, whether you want it or not, I will still fight for you
until I get my sister back.”
“Your sister is gone.” She sneers. “She has evolved into the great woman you
see today. Now tell me…”
Melanie
shoves her backward. “What are you doing
here?”
“I told you, I am a McBride, and that means
I belong here. This is my estate as
well.”
“Whatever you say, Karen.” Melanie says,
rolling her eyes. “All I can tell you is
this, you had better stay out of my way.
I thought we had an agreement. I
thought you agreed to stay out of my way and that if you did, my Master and I would
leave you alone.”
“Yeah, we did have that agreement,” Karen
says with a sigh “but I’m not going to
stand by and allow you to ruin your life like this.”
“Well consider this your final warning.” Melanie
says, pointing a finger at Karen. “Stay
out of my way. We have nothing further
to discuss.”
Melanie
tries to walk past Karen but the elder McBride gets in her way. Melanie sighs with frustration. “What is it, Karen? I told you that we are through!”
“This is not over until I say it is over!”
Karen exclaims as she steps up close to Melanie
again. This proves to be a mistake as
Melanie just shoves her backward once more, this time hard enough to cause the
older Karen to stumble onto her butt.
“It is over, Karen.” Melanie states
emphatically. “Just accept that I have moved on to bigger and better things. I have more important matters to deal with, I
have Pierce Manning. And I also have a
tag team championship in Motor City Wrestling.”
“You’ll get destroyed by The Creation if you
follow Aubrianna’s lead.”
“Oh and your advice will help me to retain?”
Melanie shakes her head. “Oh no, I
don’t need your help. I don’t want your
help. Powers and I are the champions and
we will survive without you.”
Melanie
walks on past Karen. Karen just watches
closely, mapping out her next move.

Emotions are
weaknesses of the human nature. Passion
is a weakness of the human nature.
Humans fail all too often because of their passion, their emotion, and
their feelings. They allow their
feelings to get the best of them, they allow their emotions to drive their
decision making processes when, in reality, it should be logic and reason that
drives the decision making process.
Cold.
Heartless. Stoic logic and reason.
Few members
of the human species are able to evolve to a point where they can overcome
their pathetic emotions and make sound, logical decisions. Those individuals who can overcome their
emotions succeed in life, while those who are unable to overcome their
emotions, who are conquered and enslaved by their passions, are doomed to the
same fate of the dinosaurs.
Extinction.
Jason King
and Willow Wilkes, ironically enough you call yourselves The Creation but
everyone knows that Creation is but a religious myth created by fundamentalists
in order to control their congregation; to control their sheep. And that is what you two are…
…no, not
sheep. I wouldn’t dare insult an animal
in such a manner as that. You two are
just a mere myth. The myth of greatness
which shall be exposed as the fraud that it is when you come face to face with
The Elite at Deliverance.
You believe
that your passion for one another creates an unbreakable bond that makes you
one of the strongest, if not the strongest, tag teams in Motor City
Wrestling. But as my tag team partner so
eloquently pointed out, your emotion hinders your greatness. Your emotions and passions toward one another
will lead your downfall and lead to The Elite’s final victory over The
Creation.
Jason, if
you see your precious Willow in trouble…and I don’t mean typical trouble that a
wrestler might encounter, because let’s be honest, Aubrianna and I are far from
typical. If you see your darling in
serious danger, are you really going to be thinking with your head?
Or your
heart?
The same
goes for you, Willow. Ask yourself, to
protect your precious Jason, will you be thinking logically or emotionally?
No,
Aubrianna and I may not have the same kind of emotional bond you two have. We have a friendship, yes, but we also have a
business relationship and we know that our goal, above and beyond anything else
is to win.
Everything
else is secondary. Even the other
person’s health and well-being.
It’s all a
part of natural selection. The Elite has
evolved to a point where we do not need that passion to survive. But you rely on that passion and those
emotions and because of that, nature will select you for extinction.
